Simple Pastry (Dairy Free)
Rapeseed oil has a slightly nutty taste (without any nut residue) making it ideal for sweet or savory cooking.
Removing the butter ingredient and replacing it with rapeseed oil eliminates about 25% of saturate fat. Whow!
Preheat fan over to 180oC/350oC/Gas Mark 4.
To make the pastry combine the rapeseed oil, water and egg. Then, add the flour and salt into the mixture and knead until it forms a soft dough. With oil in the pastry there is no need to 'store it' in a fridge before rolling.
Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and cut or shape as required.
Bake in the oven for around 22min at 180oC/350oC/Gas Mark 4
This recipe makes a very light pastry ideal for quiches, pies and tarts.
